Obtaining a residence permit in Poland for Ukrainians

Poland is open to Ukrainians, encourages business opening, helps with employment, and allows them to stay on its territory temporarily or with the prospect of becoming a resident of the country.   • employment – a work residence permit in Poland is issued if there is an invitation from the employer specifying the seasonality and duration, position, salary amount, type of employment contract, and number of working hours;
  • obtaining education – the individual must document enrollment in one of the higher education institutions in the country, provide receipts for payment of educational services, and prove the availability of funds for living in Poland;
  • family reunification – a residence permit in Poland for Ukrainians is available if close family members (children, spouses) already reside there.

The processing time for applications for a temporary residence permit in Poland is up to 90 days.

How to obtain a permanent residence permit

Obtaining a permanent residence permit in Poland is allowed if:

  • there is a Pole's Card – issued when the applicant intends to stay in Poland, supported by a rental agreement and employment, documents confirming education;
  • Repatriation – it is necessary to confirm Polish roots, pass a test on knowledge of traditions, history of Poland, understand the political landscape of the country, and know the Polish language.

Permanent residence permit for Ukrainians in Poland allows legal residence in the country and the purchase of real estate.

Obtaining Polish citizenship and the Resident Card

Individuals who have had a permanent residence status for three years and possess a high level of oral and written Polish can become citizens of Poland. Citizenship is processed at the Voivode or after submitting an application to the President.

You can obtain a residence permit and permanent residence in Poland by submitting documents for the Resident Card. For this, you need to:

  • reside in the country continuously for five years;
  • have insurance;
  • receive a stable income;
  • own your own housing;
  • possess a certificate confirming knowledge of the Polish language at the B1 level.
